I no longer feel adequate as a nerd. I’m writing this from my home office which I thought was really nerdy up until a few minutes ago. On my desk I have a laptop plugged into a docking station. Next to it, I have a 21″ monitor and a 19″ monitor both plugged into my desktop machine. To the right of my desk I have a baker’s rack with a 3 node beowulf cluster, two printers, a 40 port switch, a wireless router, a cable modem and a PC acting as my firewall. Next the baker’s rack is a second desk with a laptop sitting on it. Oh, I’m writing this on a third laptop that’s sitting on my lap. Pretty nerdy right? Well, I thought it was everything a geek could ask for until I saw this home office. My geeked out office doesn’t seem too geeked out any more. The really sad part is that when I showed this to my wife, she told me no before I could even ask for a similar setup.
